Brisbane Convention Bureau celebrates Global Meetings Industry Day
A message from Brisbane Convention Bureau General Manager Juliet Alabaster
The Brisbane Convention Bureau recently celebrated Global Meetings Industry Day!
A lot of the successes in the business events industry in Brisbane would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work from the incredible team at the Convention Bureau, as well as our many industry partners.
#GMID18 offered the industry a chance to highlight the importance of what we deliver beyond simple tourism benefits and economic development.
2016/17 saw Brisbane host 1,266 business events, which welcomed over 145,000 delegates to our city, which included the World Melanoma Congress and the International Congress for Tropical Medicine and Malaria. Brisbane continues to make an impact in this space, being the home to world-class researchers and experts in wide range of fields, and hosting meetings which brings together thought leaders from across the globe.
This amazing effort generated 425,000 delegate days and $257 million in economic impact – something that would not have been possible without the combined efforts from around the Greater Brisbane region.
The benefits of business events for Brisbane and around the world are significant, and the Brisbane Convention Bureau is committed to continue delivering real results and real economic impact across Brisbane.
