2021 LMBA Finalists

Brisbane business finalists to be awarded for their resilience and strength

Unprecedented economic challenges have forced Brisbane businesses to rethink the way they operate, and this year’s finalists in the annual Lord Mayor’s Business Awards have proven just how adaptable and resilient the city’s businesses can be.

Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said despite a tough economic climate, the 2021 awards showcased some of the most innovative, entrepreneurial and creative businesses operating in Brisbane.

“Our city’s economic recovery and revitalisation is dependent on sectors that can navigate change, adopt and embrace new opportunities, and these awards recognise some of the city’s most outstanding businesses,” Cr Schrinner said.

He said the 11 award categories (all listed below) highlighted success stories in a cross-section of industries, including health and food technology, advanced manufacturing, arts, tourism, social enterprise, the circular economy, education, system design, construction, transport, professional and financial services, health care, retail, international exporters, and new and emerging industries.

“There’s an air of optimism in Brisbane, and I have full confidence, having seen the high calibre of our award finalists, that our city is well positioned to grow, thrive and drive sustainable economic change, regardless of a global pandemic,” he said.

Now in their 16th year, these awards are a benchmark of business excellence in Brisbane.

Cr Schrinner said the awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of businesses that are not only helping Brisbane recover, but are driving the city’s economy predicted to grow to $217 billion over the next decade

“I’m thrilled to see how many of Brisbane’s businesses have adapted to overcome difficult economic times through sheer determination, ingenuity and innovation.

“I can confidently say these award finalists are an inspiration to the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs, and their products, services and innovations are contributing to creating long-lasting prosperity to the lives of our residents across Brisbane.”

Cr Schrinner said Brisbane City Council and its economic arm, Brisbane Economic Development Agency, have a clear remit to help drive business growth over the coming years as the local economy continues to recover.

The full list of finalists follows, and category winners of the 2021 Lord Mayor's Business Awards will be announced on 22 October 2021.
