Solar technology champions win Lord Mayor’s Business Award

A Brisbane firm offering advanced yet low-coast solar solutions for residential and commercial users has won the ANZ Award for High-Growth Business Start-Up in the 2017 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said Redback Technologies was established in 2015 with the support of the Microsoft Innovation Centre.

It has since become a market leader with partners including Sonepar, Energy Australia, The Australian Solar Council and the University of Queensland.

Redback’s focus is on quality, accessibility and efficiency. Its streamlined and upgradable inverter hardware incorporates power electronics, cloud system control and related switchgear into an aesthetically pleasing design, allowing for rapid integration, and low installation costs.

The Redback Smart Hybrid System is unique in that it offers an uninterrupted power supply and backup power all in one. The advanced software allows users to store, monitor and manage their solar energy.

One of Redback’s greatest selling points is that its cloud-based system puts power back in the hands of consumers. Its growing reputation is also enhanced by a management team which combines many years of experience in renewable energy generation, engineering, manufacturing, software development and market regulation.

The Lord Mayor’s Business Awards are now in their 12th year and continue to attract record numbers of entries from a vast range of sectors and industries.

Cr Quirk congratulated all winners of the 2017 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards, who were announced at a gala dinner at Brisbane’s City Hall on Friday 27 October.

“Our award winners demonstrate the depth of talent, enterprising optimism and innovative mindset of our business community, who play a vital role in Brisbane’s success at a local and global level,” he said.
