Brisbane’s economy will receive an estimated $70 million injection over the coming years as The Brisbane Convention Bureau partnered with venues, institutions, industry and government to attract 61 national and international conferences in the 2016/17 financial year.
From record-breaking tourism figures and new major events to a brand new startup incubator and award-winning business hubs, Brisbane has had a huge 2016-17 financial year. Among the achievements are a raft of new hotel openings, record visitation from international travellers and the beginning of the city-changing Queens Wharf development.
Join the Asia Pacific Cities Summit
In September, Lord Mayor Graham Quirk will lead a delegation of Brisbane businesses and young professionals to the 2017 Asia Pacific Cities Summit (2017APCS) and Mayors’ Forum in Daejeon (10-13 September). Expected to attract more than 1500 delegates from businesses, governments and institutions all over the Asia Pacific, 2017APCS will enhance opportunities for delegates to expand their overseas networks and generate business and investment leads. Keynote speakers include Cherie Blair, Founder of the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, Jared Cohen, President of Jigsaw and Thomas Frey, Senior Futurist at the DaVinci Institute. BIGSOUND lineup announced
Australia’s biggest music industry event and artist showcase, BIGSOUND, has unveiled a mammoth lineup for its 16th year. Last year saw 7000 people from Australia and overseas descend on Fortitude Valley. This year promises to be bigger again when it kicks off from September 5-8.
With all the colours, sounds and smells of an Asian hawker market plus the buzz, hype and vibe of a huge outdoor festival. From this Wednesday, the Night Noodle Markets will return to South Bank’s cultural forecourt complete with 23 food stalls, a selection of bars and nightly music.

From Thursday – Sunday in the last week of July, James Street embraces all things food and wine. Join your favourite restaurants, bars, cafés and stores in-venue for exclusive collaborations, tastings and master classes and then, on Sunday, head out for the incredible foodie market.
