Brisbane Marketing appoints new Chief Executive Officer
The Brisbane Marketing board is pleased to announce the appointment of Brett Fraser as its new Chief Executive Officer effective 3 July 2017.
As CEO, Mr Fraser will work with the board to deliver on the city’s economic blueprint as directed by Lord Mayor Graham Quirk and councillors and further enhance Brisbane’s reputation as Australia’s New World City.
Mr Fraser is ideally suited to lead the city’s economic development board as he brings extensive global experience in the private sector and economic development field.
Mr Fraser has served as Brisbane Marketing’s Chief Operating Officer since January 2016 and previously held various senior executive positions at Vale, one of the world’s largest global resource companies. His other executive positions include: General Manager at Australia TradeCoast and Investment Director (North America) for Invest Australia.
Chairman of Brisbane Marketing Ian Klug AM said the board was delighted to have such a high-calibre executive take over the reins as the head of Brisbane Marketing.
“Brett has enormous experience in economic development gained from many years in both Australia and overseas. He is extremely well regarded in Brisbane’s business community and has shown an unwavering dedication to the development and prosperity of our city,” Mr Klug said.
“The Brisbane Marketing board would also like to acknowledge outgoing CEO John Aitken for his nine and a half years as the head of the city’s economic development board. Brisbane Marketing has enjoyed many successful years under John’s leadership and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours."
Cr Quirk said Brisbane Marketing would continue its track record of success under Mr Fraser’s leadership.
“Brisbane Marketing continues to deliver the city’s economic development goals as outlined in the Brisbane 2022 New World City Action Plan and I am looking forward to many more years of achievement under the leadership of the agency’s new chief executive officer.”
Mr Fraser said he felt privileged to have been appointed to lead the city’s economic development board and was looking forward to driving Brisbane’s success as a destination to invest and visit.
“Brisbane’s economy is undergoing an exciting transformation. The coming six years will see significant changes in our city as we deliver major infrastructure and investment projects,” he said.
“Through the delivery of the Brisbane 2022 New World City Action Plan, we have a unique opportunity to work closely with the business community and government to continue the economic momentum that the city has enjoyed in recent years.”
