Brisbane Student Hub opens at The Edge
Brisbane is leading the way in study innovation by creating the first student hub in Queensland. Located at the State Library of Queensland, the Brisbane Student Hub provides a place for both international and national students to network, study and access free services to assist their studies.
The Brisbane Student Hub aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment for international students where they have access to support for community orientation, healthcare and future employment pathways. Run by international students and ambassadors, it offers friendly and confidential help.
The space will assist international students transition comfortably to Brisbane study, with support services available for language, culture and religion. Information on events and activities is also dispersed to students to increase their level of engagement with Brisbane and the local community.
The Brisbane Student Hub provides professional advice to guide students in the journey to finding employment in Brisbane. In addition, volunteering opportunities and work experience can also be found through connections made there. Future workshops such as resume writing and cultural conversation groups are also in the works. These services will ensure that international students are equipped with the right skills to assist their studies in Brisbane.
Not only does the Brisbane Student Hub provide support services, it also boasts an exciting and innovative interior, encouraging students to use it as a study space. Users have access to free wi-fi and a wide assortment of complimentary resources such as laptops and printers. The idea is to encourage both international and national students to connect in this communal space.
The Brisbane Student Hub is a joint initiative between Study Brisbane, Study Queensland, MDA Queensland and SLQ’s The Edge, and is located at The Edge, South Brisbane. It is open Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from midday - 5pm.
